Cheep! Cheep!
Hello again and welcome to my Spring Blog.
At last the weather is brightening and now our systems are getting back to normal and you should be waking up to our freshly laid eggs again.
Spring means we have some sunny dry days so make the most of these days and give our coops a thorough clean out. Try and take as much apart as possible and give our houses a real good scrub. Mites may have been killed by the winter frost, but it’s worth just checking. By doing this on a dry sunny day, it means that everything can dry out well before it’s put back together again. Of course, cleaning should not only be done over Spring, our coops should to be cleaned out every week but thoroughly a few times a year.
We hope for sunshine but we know spring showers are inevitable! So have a think about the ground we walk on and how you could perhaps use, sand, gravel or woodchip to firm it up and make it less muddy for us.
When the temperature rises, so does the possibility of us getting worms – so you may need to give us some in feed wormer to get rid of them. Foxes can be another pest in the Spring. They are on the prowl teaching their cubs to hunt, so please be cautious & careful and make sure our homes are as secure as possible.
Enjoy the milder weather, oh and our eggs & I’ll be back soon!
